Synopsis

I am not the kind of guy who likes to blame everything that's wrong with the world on "the corporations". Red Bull GmbH is just a company making its way through the international market.

I do however find it outrageous, when I hear about rich, big company bashing a non profit child aid organisation, because their slogan is similar to theirs.

Additionally, I think it's stretching when a company tries to claim a popular phrase as their own, despite the fact that it has been circulating in literature and culture for centuries.

Everything started when I came across article in Gazeta:
http://www.gazetawyborcza.pl/1,76842,5025682.html
Which I am now trying to get a legal permit to translate to English.

Basically, Red Bull patented Polish version of it's slogan "Red Bull Doda Ci Skrzydeł" (literally - Red Bull Will Add You Wings) 11 years ago.
The Foundation in question, Grazyna Malecha Foundation "Dodaj Dzieciom Skrzydła..." (Add Children Wings...) has registered their slogan in the patent office 7 years ago.

At the end of last year Grazyna Malecha, the founder of organisation, recieved a letter from Red Bull, demanding she stops using the slogan because its too similar to the one used by the company.
In January 2008 she received a letter from the patent office. It said that Red Bull had made a formal objection, and if she does not reply within two months she will loose the right to use the name.

Grazyna Malecha's foundation is organising aid for children from poor and/or neglected homes. Among many things, they provide books, clothing, meals, health aid, organise events and recreation.

Their website is at http://www.dodajdzieciomskrzydel.pl/
Unfortunately, English language version is currently unavailable.

nobody writes about the thing, that the foundation wanted to sell the right to the slogan to another drink manufacturer and this is the reason why red bull confronts them. moreover the foundation uses kids to get the public opinion on their side and put blame on the international company. besides red bull runs its own foundation wings for life that is looking for a cure to spinal injuries. nobody puts emphasis on the real reason of confrontation though
